The Rockhampton Tourism Strategy is driven by five key pillars - corporate, leisure, events, education and sport. Rockhampton is recognised globally as the economic heart of Central Queensland, with high quality services and a prosperous economy driven by entrepreneurial and innovative businesses, strategic investment and international exports. There are also a number of major projects and infrastructure developments either committed or nearing commitment in the region, and as such Rockhampton sees an influx of corporate visitors to the region for work.

Known as the Events Capital of Central Queensland, the Rockhampton Region hosts over 70 events annually and attracts major national and international events, including Beef Australia, Rockynats (from the team behind Summernats), Rockhampton River Festival and the DNA Conference.
